Top 8 things to do in Prague

My trip to Prague lasted 2,5 days. Here some of the most memorable things I saw/did while I was there:

The Charles Bridge

Address: Karlův most, 110 00 Praha 1

Our tour guide gave us a useful piece of advice. Either come to the Bridge early in the morning or late in the evening (in the summertime at least). During the day the bridge is so full of tourists and street artists, you neither see its famous sculptures nor can take a good picture. The bridge is more fun to be on than to admire it from the side.

Prague Castle

Address: 119 08 Praha 1

Castle in Prague is more than just a building. It is a large complex and each wonderful building of the complex  has its own function. Be ready to dedicate a day to see every corner of the castle complex and choose comfortable shoes to wear. The Metropolitan Cathedral of Saints Vitus is the highlight of the castle complex (imho).

The Prague astronomical clock /Old Town Square

Address: Staroměstské nám., 110 00 Praha 1

Old Town Square is the heart of Prague full of tourists. Historical buildings, museums, churches, restaurants, souvenir shops, and many more things to see. Obviously, that’s the place to visit.

Spanish Synagogue

Address: Vězeňská 1, 110 00 Praha 1

I admired architecture in Prague and the Spanish Synagogue is one of many amazing buildings that is worth to see. Spend more time in the Jewish quarter to get to know more about the history of the city.

The Dancing House

Address: Jiráskovo nám. 1981/6, 120 00 Praha 2

If you like architecture or something unusual, you might be interested in seeing this office building. As you can guess by its name, the house looks as if it is dancing. Despite the fact there is not much  inside that can attract tourists, the area around the building has become a popular spot  due to its location (close to the city center) and the fascinating look of the building.

The National Theater

Address: Národní 2, 110 00 Praha 1

The National Theater looks grand from both inside and outside. It is easy to walk to the National Theater from the Dancing House while enjoying the view of the riverside. I wish I had enough time to watch a performance inside the Theater.

Try delicious Czech cuisine

Restaurants in Prague shall not disappoint you. Portions are fulfilling and the dishes are flavorful. If you are a meat lover Prague is almost paradise for you.

My husband was shocked when he ordered a pig’s knee and got 700 g (!) of meat. He expected to see mostly the bone with some meat on top, but the portion was just gigantic. It is better to share one meal with your friends if you travel as a group.

Creamy mushroom soup I had was absolutely delicious. The only thing I regretted is that we had lunch. Prague is a dangerous place to be if you are on a diet.

As for sweet snacks, I got a chance to try Trdelník the size of which was impressive. Nowadays Trdelník is served with various fillings, but, in my view, the bread is tasty by itself and does not need that much of additional ingredients (strawberries, whipped creams, chocolate…)

Misa cake was soft and tasty, with some ‘light’ cream (so it tasted). Perfect dessert that does not make you thirsty.

Try famous Czech beer

I personally have not tried any, but the amount of beer that was consumed on the streets of Prague impressed me. As an interesting option, I recommend you to try the mixture of dark and light beer.

Prague is a very tourist friendly city, the streets of the city look very colorful and it is easy to enjoy the walk in the city center in the summer despite the crowds of tourists. 🙂
